Update from Dr. Aaron and Dr. Marco

Friends,

The clinic staff continues to work diligently to serve the many men, women, and children who come for medical care.  Below is a brief narrative of the care and services which they provide in an ongoing fashion to many in need.  This information comes from both Dr. Aaron and Dr. Marco.  I am also including some photos of those being served by the clinic.  The financial support which you, our donors, provide is an ongoing blessing to so many.  The patients express their thanks to the staff for the loving and quality care which they receive from the staff.  Our clinic staff has let the patients know that the financial support to run the clinic and o carry on are dependent upon the gifts and donations which all of you provide.  On numerous occasions, the patients have told our medical staff to let those in the United States [“Estados Unidos”] know how much they truly appreciate their support to keep the clinic operating.

 John Cromer, M.D.

Dr. John,

In the past 9-10 months, we have seen about 3300 patients – which is an average of 325 patients/ month.  Our calculations show that about 2-3% of our patients come for care of COVID.  We have had 60-70 COVID patients seen in our clinic.  We use very sanitary protection to prevent contamination to others, and isolate them from others when we care for them.  There are some very sick COVID patients that we see.  We have to refer about 15% of them to the hospital medical center in Tegucigulpa, the capital.  Our driver helps by taking those who are very sick to the hospital which is over 2 hours away on difficult and rough roads.

We keep track of every patient that we treat for COVID and for all other conditions too.  In our area about 30% of the COVID patients are under 40 years old.  This means that most of our COVID patients are older men and women.  The ones who have other co-morbid conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, respiratory problems and other conditions have more complications with COVID.  We do well in treating and caring for patients for all of the conditions they have.

I think that those who read this letter would like to know what some of the things are that we take care of in our patients.  Here is a list of some of them that we have seen in the past few months.

  • Urinary tract infection, Dengue, Anxiety, Colds
  • Anemia, Conjunctivitis, Female problems
  • Gastro-reflux, Ulcers, Allergic reaction
  • Parasites, Back pain, Asthma, Lacerations
  • Pharyngitis, Diabetes mellitus,  Arthritis, Insomnia
  • Pulmonary fibrosis, Hay fever,  Bronchitis, Pneumonia
  • Dermatitis, Nosebleed, Varicose veins, Ear infection, Abscess infection
  • Heart failure, Dysentery, Neuralgia, Headache, Fever
  • COVID,  Gynecology, Fracture, Sprains

I want all of those persons who support our work with patients to know how important your support is and how much we appreciate you.  There are people here who think of you and pray for you and your families.

We are very grateful for you.

Dr. Aaron and Dr. Marco and all of our staff
