Imagine riding in a 4-WD truck on rocky, sometimes impassable mountain roads, hours from any medical care. You, or a family member or a friend, who are in need of health care have no reasonable access to that care. This is what exists for thousands of men, women and children who reside within the parish of San Francisco de Asis in Honduras. This mountainous area in central Honduras includes 80 or so small communities, some as far as 4 hours apart and accessible, in some cases, only by mule or on foot. Within this rugged terrain live 50,000 people. Their health needs are extensive, and it is our desire to address these needs systematically and compassionately.
